We imported this BMW from the United Kingdom. It was imported into the UK from Germany in August of 2024 and then we purchased the vehicle and brought it over to the USA. 

 

Notes from the previous owner about the car:

 

- highly original example

- white paintwork carries some gentle signs of wear, commensurate with age

- fitted with SMT sports alloys

- good, solid underside with no substantial corrosion

- german - lettered controls and a Mercedes Benz casette player. 

- M10 four-cylinder engine

- 4-speed manual transmission

- engine bay in fair age - commensurate order with an Alpina strut brace

- formerly part of a large static collection in Germany

 

Since this BMW has been sitting for a while in dry storage there are some things that it will need to get it in tip top running condition, here is a list of things that we have observed: 

 

- heater fan does not turn on, could be an electrical issue or could need a new fan motor

- the choke cable has become detached, just need to be reattached, fairly simple fix

- tachometer does not work, should be an easy fix

- as can be seen and heard in the video there seems to be an exhaust manifold gasket leak, parts are cheap and should be an easy fix, once this is fixed the engine should idle much better and shake less

- we noticed a small hole in the footwell behind the brake pedal as can be seen in the video, any bodywork shop could patch this easily

- the gas tank leaks when filled between a quarter and half a tank. When it is filled less than this amount it does not leak. They make cheap products where you can seal the gas tank or you could purchase a used or new gas tank if you wanted to.

 

When we got the vehicle we drained the coolant and refilled it with fresh coolant.

This is a running and driving very original BMW 2002 Touring, which is not something that you see everyday especially in this cosmetic condition. With a small amount of work this would be a great daily driver or weekend show car.
